The Blue Competent Operator Card shows employers that you are competent to operate a particular type of plant. That you have skills to do the job, the HS&E training needed to do it safely, and real-world experience with a particular type of plant.
The CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card is issued on successful completion of the CPCS Theory and Practical Technical Tests which must be taken with a CPCS accredited test centre. Blue Competent Operator cardholders have demonstrated their ability to work unsupervised, and may, in fact be called upon to supervise Red Trained Operator cardholders on the worksite.
Please note that Industry Accreditation is being withdrawn. CPCS will phase out blue Competent Operator cards gained through Industry Accreditation from 1 January 2020, and any cards issued through transitional routes will be completely removed by 31 December 2024.

Complete the F1/3 application to renew your card. You can do this online or by mailing the application form. If a fee is required, you will be sent an online link. Applications can be made 3 months before the expiry date.
